As always very wise words Marie. I have always been a listner and I think that is the thing that perhaps makes us a bit wary of being on the other foot. Although I remember telling Mary to please let people help her (when she falls which she seems to do regularily !) she always HAD to take help but did it without ay grace whatesoever and so people thought she was one of these grumpy diabled people who never want help....and then maybe complain they never get it !! Anyway she tok my advise and so now is ever grateful and gives people the chance to be helpful...so making them feel much better... But it is hard..

Oh Marie, this post just hits home for me. I know that you remember the turmoil I was going through over a year ago. Dealing with my mom's health and all. I became such a tremendous burden to my friends that I finally walked away from everyone. After a year and a half, I still have not re-connected with my friends, as I am always so fearful of becoming a burden. But...I have also found that not having anyone to share your thoughts and fears with, other than family, can sometimes be so very difficult. I really need to do some heavy duty work in my life.

I think you always need to share. Before I had cancer I held everything in and pretended I was invincible, and now from that stress I have cancer.

Listening is so much easier than talking. With listening, nobody is judging you, you aren't "being a burden" or imposing, etc. I tend to be the ear rather than the mouth in important conversations. But I was thinking today about going public with a problem. Thanks for helping me along on that route.

Perfectly said, Marie...I'm such a good listener, and such a horrible sharer--I need to get better at this, too! Grateful to our Savior for always listening, helping and lightening that load. Life would be pretty unbearable without Him, wouldn't it?

My daughter just walked in and saw your picture for the bacon and cheese on toast...she loves good food, as I do. I scrolled down and showed her some of your other recipes and photos, and she said "Can we just go live with her for awhile?"
